We had a great brunch one Sunday at Don Cuco's. We haven't been here in years. Great place for an intimate lunch or dinner. We decided to have a relaxing day at Don Cuco's after a round of golf. Everyone that visits a Mexican restaurant knows it's all about the salsa. They have the most delicious and addicting salsa. I wanted to eat everything with it. It's super light and refreshing. I made sure we had tons of salsa so when our entrees came out, I can eat everything with it! LOL We started with the Guacamole. Our entrees came with a choice of soup or salad. With my Shrimp Yucatan, I chose the Albondigas soup and with his Plato de Carnitas, he had a salad. The Albondigas soup was heavenly, just like my mother-in-law's! Just a savory meatball sitting in it's juices. It couldn't have gotten any better. Mainly meat and not much filler - you can tell by the texture. I love how lightly seasoned the meatball was. The Shrimp Yucatan came with a side of beans, rice and garlic bread. The Plato de Carnitas came with a side of beans, rice and corn tortillas. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the shells came out of them effortlessly. They are perfectly drenched in butter and garlic. Delicious! The side of beans were my favorite. They were not refried beans! So happy for that! They were stewed to perfection and tasted great with the rice. His Plato de Carnitas were moist, tender and juicy. He was in love with the Carnitas. The juices will seep into your tortillas making each bite rich and delicious. We had the best server, Alfredo, and he was a lot of fun. He was such a pleasure to meet. We hope we see him again next time because he was a lot of fun and was so attentive. With that being said, he offered a couple of great Happy Hour drinks. I had the Patron Skinny Margarita and he had a Pink Cadillac Margarita. The vibe is so romantic so we made it a point to hit Don Cuco's for our special date nights! We really can't wait until we visit again. Next time we'll get the Queso Fundido. It is melted cheese, which typically has chorizo, mushrooms, or poblano peppers. It also takes about 15 minutes to make and is usually served in a sizzling hot plate. We made the mistake of not ordering and ordered the Guacamole instead. That will be our next visit, for sure!

First time eating here and it's got a warm and welcoming environment. The staff is very nice, and attentive. The margarita is strong, be careful with that if you want to get lite with one drink. The food tastes amazing and fresh, nothing out of a can. Prices are definitely reasonable. Can't wait to go back!

The surrounding area has really become a new LA spot for food, so this original Don Cucos is in for competition! Visited many times & rarely disappointed, the staff was great & food is consistently good. We had one issue with the food but the staff fixed it immediately. Huge portions on the #16, and margaritas are a must. Love the music & ambience, still a good location in a now hip area. I do prefer the Burbank location over this one, but the convenience & craving hit the spot.

For my -0th Birthday, a relative game me a gift card to Don Cuco's. He says if I like no-frills old school Mexican, then I will like this place because this is where the locals go. On this visit, we took our friends out to dinner and had a great time. I don't think there was anything bad about it. What was great was it was during the holidays so the decor was full-on display. - Our house margarita was good. My friend's margarita with cucumber was awesome (I wished I had that). - The chips and salsa were addicting. - I tried the Zarape's and that was worth it. My husband finished off mine and agreed. Note: Parking is off street. We'll definitely be back. It's now on our SoCal favorite list.

It can be hard to find great authentic Mexican food in LA sometimes because of all the fancy, modern places around but Don Cuco hit the spot! We sat outside to avoid the 25 min wait for inside but the interior was real cute, next time we'll try to sit in there for sure. Chips and salsa were tasty, chile colorado was delicious, and chipotle burrito was good too. Waiter and bussers were attentive and helpful, and food came out fast.

If you're looking for a charming, family-owned dining experience with incredible food and warm, attentive service, Don Cuco is a must-visit. We stopped here on a Saturday night after a day at Universal Studios, and the lively, bustling atmosphere told us right away we had made the right choice. One of the most delightful surprises was that every meal comes with soup or salad, a thoughtful touch that feels increasingly rare. The portions were generous, the flavors were spot on, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. It's clear this restaurant is loved by locals and visitors alike and for good reason. Whether you're visiting Los Angeles or just want a memorable meal, Don Cuco is well worth the trip. A true California gem!
